Day 1 - Kathmandu - Arughat (570m)
Transport by local or reserved bus from Kathmandu to Arughat, a central commercial village located near the Budhi Gandaki River, a long and important river in the region. About 6 h of bus.
Day 2 - Arughat - Labubensi (880m)
An easy walk along the Budhi Gandaki River through Majhi Gaun, Arkhet and Kurinpani as you cross the rice fields and climb up to Labubensi, a small village near Budhi Gandaki.
Day 3 - Labubensi - Khorlabensi (970m)
A walk on the flat along the river crossing some small streams. We will continue to Khorlabensi by walk through Machhikholagaun. 5 h walk.
Day 4 - Khorlabensi - Jagat (1410m)
From here we take the classic path of the Tour de Manaslu. The path begins to follow the Budhi Gandaki River. Easy trail to a hot spring, then we will cross Dovan where there are some tea shops and we will continue easily to Jagat, a place located on the narrow Budhi Gandaki valley. 6 h walk.
Day 5 - Jagat - Pewa, (1820m)
The trail follows the Budhi Gandaki River. It's easy as far as Salleri and Shirdibas, the trail will cross the river on the right side and we will have some climbing up to Phillime, a central village of the area where there is telephone, dispensary and a school. Lunch. Pursuit with an easy walk then we climb up the grassy slope right side of the river. We will continue to Eklibhatt. Then we leave the hiking trail of the Tsum valley to the right to cross the river on the left side. We will walk through the pine forest to Pewa, a small commercial place with 2 houses. 6 1/2 h walk.
Day 6 - Pewa - Namrung (2660m)
The first part of the trail will be uphill and downhill. We cross the river once or twice with suspended bridges. One enters an immense birch forest in a narrow valley and then climbs along the river to Namrung, a small village inhabited by the local ethnic Bhotiyas. 4 h walk. If we want to go to the village we will have to go up.
Day 7 - Namrung - Shyala Kharka (3520m)
We will continue to follow the Budhi Gandaki while walk in a forest of rhododendrons. It will be a slight climb by Ligaun and Syogaun where one will find good apples cultivated by the inhabitants. There is a sublime view of Shyala Himal on the right side. We will continue for a moment to see Mount Manaslu (8163 m) in the left front. Break in the village of Lho, village with a richly decorated stupa. Lunch. Descend along a small stream that we will cross then we will begin to climb slightly up to Shyala Kharka through the birch forest with a breathtaking view of Manaslu, Manaslu North, Sringi Himal, Shyala Himal. 5 h walk.
Day 8 - Shyalakharka - Pungen Glacier (4742m) - Samagaun (3530m)
The valley becomes wider and we begin to climb to the north of the valley to see the Pungen glacier, the southern glacier of the Manaslu Himal. We will continue along the crest of the glacier to the monastery dedicated to Milarepa with some caves where Milarepa was doing meditation. A beautiful view of Manaslu and Sringi Himal, then downhill to rejoin the usual trail. Easy walk to Samagaun, one of the main villages of the Bhotiyas. There is a great view of Manaslu and other summits as well. 6 h walk.
Day 9- Samagaun - Samdo (3690m)
The landscapes become desert and the vegetation becomes scarce. walk is easy along the Gandaki Budhi River with an unforgettable view of the Samdo peak. We will continue the trail and cross the river then small climb to the right until Samdo, last village of the region. The houses have flat roofs, the population lives on livestock, a little agriculture and seasonal migrations. Beautiful panoramic view of Manaslu, Samdo Peak, Larke Himal. 3 1/2 h walk.
Day 10 - Rest in Samdo for acclimatization and visit the village.
Day 11 - Samdo - Dharamsala (4470)
An easy walk to the Budhi Gandaki River that you leave definitively after crossing it for a low climb with a superb view of Larke Himal and the top of Manaslu and Samdo left side behind us. Continue to Dharamsala, a wilderness sheltered before the pass. 3 1/2 h walk.
Day 12 - Dharamsala - Bhimthang (3720m)
The final destination: you will have to get up early in the morning around 3:30 in the morning. The climb will be long but progressive through the moraine until the Larke pass (5016). We will have an impressive view of Himlung Himal, Larke Himal, Gyajungkang, Pari Himal, and the Annapurnas massif west of the pass. The descent is steep after the pass to the Himlung glacier. Lunch then easy descent to Bhimthang. 9 to 9 h and a half walk if there is snow at the pass otherwise 7 h walk.
Day 13 - Bhimthang - Dharapani (1860m)
We are now in the Annapurna region. A walk along the Dudh Khola river and a superb view of Manaslu and peak 29 towards the north side. We descend through the immense pine forest to Tilji, Gurung village. Then to Dharapani located near the Marshyangdy river where we find the classic path around the Annapurna. 7 h walk.
Day 14 - Dharapani-Jagat (1420m)
Follow the trail in front of the Annapurna tower. Descend along the Marshyangdi River by Tal, the last village in the Manang region. We descend to Chamje, then easily to Jagat, where the inhabitants are Tamangs and Gurungs. 6 h walk.
Day 15 - Jagat - Kathmandu
An easy descent to Syange for an hour and a half, along the Marshyangdi River and then by bus to Besishar and Kathmandu in 6 1/2 h
